First contact musculoskeletal practitioners are experts in musculoskeletal conditions and possess advanced skills to assess, diagnose, and recommend appropriate lifestyle changes and treatments or referrals for musculoskeletal (MSK) problems during a patient’s initial contact with healthcare services, such as when they visit their GP Surgery. . If necessary, they may prescribe exercise programs, refer for blood tests or X-rays/MRIs, administer steroid injections, or recommend secondary health services like rheumatology, orthopaedics, or physiotherapy

Clinical Pharmacists worked closely with the GP team, using their specialist knowledge to offer medication reviews to patients as well as being able to review chronic conditions within their specialist pharmacy areas. Along with the Pharmacy Technicians, they help to review and maintain safe prescribing and respond directly to patient medication issues and queries, as well as liaising with the community pharmacy teams to ensure a smooth medication management process.
